The Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) has published its telecommunications statistics for June 2026. The data reflects positive performance in the sector, with a notable increase in mobile number portability and continued growth in fiber optic infrastructure. The report, available on CNMCData, provides a detailed overview of the state of telecommunications connections in Spain.
Specifically, the total number of mobile lines reached 63,24 million, equivalent to a penetration rate of 127,6 lines per 100 inhabitants. Mobile number portability, one of the most closely watched indicators, registered 498.234 operator changes during the month, 7,9% more than in June 2025. This increase contrasts with the decline observed in May, when number portability fell by 6,6% year-on-year.
Fixed broadband
Fixed broadband lines increased by 95.301 in June, reaching 19,93 million connections. Fiber to the home (FTTH) surpassed 18,2 million lines , adding 83.874 new subscriptions during the month. Conversely, HFC (cable) lines continued their decline, with 22.311 fewer lines. Regarding market share, Movistar, Vodafone, and MasOrange held 79,9% of fixed broadband lines ; if Digi is included, this percentage rises to 94,4%.
Mobile telephony
The number of mobile lines reached 63,24 million, while machine-to-machine (M2M) lines totaled 56,95 million. Penetration stood at 127,6 lines per 100 inhabitants , confirming the trend toward multiple connected devices per person. In terms of market share, Movistar, Vodafone, and MasOrange accounted for 85,5% of mobile lines ; including Digi, their combined share reached 98,1%. Mobile broadband voice lines reached 56,99 million, a 2,9% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
Mobile portability
Mobile number portability saw 498.234 operator changes, a 7,9% increase compared to June 2025. Movistar and Digi experienced a net positive balance , meaning they gained more customers than they lost. In contrast, Vodafone, MasOrange, and all mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) showed a negative balance . This trend reflects increased commercial activity and customer movement between companies, although the CNMC (National Commission for Markets and Competition) does not attribute the increase to specific causes such as special offers or price hikes.
Fixed telephony
Fixed-line subscriptions increased by 18.712 in June, reaching 17,61 million, with a penetration rate of 35,5 lines per 100 inhabitants. Fixed-line number portability also grew: 105.765 numbers were ported, 14,2% more than in June 2025. This increase demonstrates greater dynamism in the traditional telephony market, although its share remains smaller compared to mobile.
In summary, the data from June 2026 shows a telecommunications sector in full expansion, with fiber optics as the main driver of growth and mobile number portability regaining momentum. Market concentration among a few operators remains a prominent feature, with the four major companies controlling virtually all lines. These indicators will be key to assessing the sector's evolution in the coming months.
