It is not going to be an imminent launch, but there is no longer any doubt that, in Google's medium-term plans, there is the intention to present a new smartphone from the Pixel series. In this new generation a Google Pixel 9 full of new features, as well as a more powerful version (the Pixel 9 Pro). But above all, his proposal draws attention, halfway between both options, called to compete directly with the iPhone 16 Pro Max: the next Pixel 9 Pro XL.
In this post we are going to tell you everything that is known so far about the matter: how many models will go on sale and what their differences will be. Also what could be the date chosen for its presentation in society.
This will be the "family" of the Google Pixel 9
At the moment, everything indicates that the Pixel 9 will go on sale in three variants: The standard version, the improved version and the "XL" version. It is expected that the prices of each of them correspond to their level of capacity and equipment:
- Pixel9, the basic model.
- Pixel 9Pro. Similar to the previous one, but with improved functions, some of which will incorporate artificial intelligence technologies.
- Pixel 9 Pro XL. A larger Pro version, with more generous dimensions and a larger screen.
It would be necessary to add to this list the Pixel 9a, a mid-range device as has already been seen in previous models. Most likely, this fourth option will appear a few months after the presentation and launch of the three main options.
A new design proposal

Judging by the images and comments that have been leaked so far, everything indicates that the Pixel 9 is going to present important changes with respect to Pixel 8 as far as design is concerned. Almost everything we know is thanks to the accounts of OnLeaks y @91mobiles in "X".
To begin with, we know that The Pixel 9 will have a 6,5″ screen, slightly larger than that of the Pixel 8, although not than that of the Pixel 9 Pro. The front part will follow the classic design language of the previous generation with the front camera hole located in the upper half. Furthermore, the entire perimeter of the phone will be covered by a flat bezel.
The dimensions of the Pixel 9 will be as follows: 162,7mm high, 76,6mm wide and 8,5mm thick (not including the camera bump). This allows us to affirm that it will be longer and wider than the Pixel 8, and also slightly thinner.
Perhaps The most notable change is in the camera module, on the back of the phone. Here Google has chosen a rectangular ribbon-shaped design, which results in an oval type in which all the sensors and the flash are housed.

At the moment, what we know does not allow us to prepare a complete technical sheet of this new smartphone, although it does allow us to review some of its most interesting aspects.
Returning to the screen, everything indicates that it will have an OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, something almost obligatory in all high-end mobile phones. The rest of the details are unknown for now.
On the other hand, there seems to be no doubt about the improvement in performance of the new Google Pixel 9 compared to the predecessor model. Everything suggests that inside it will have a Tensor G4 processor "of the house." The battery should also be up to par, at least with 4.500 mAh capacity and fast charging, something that has been one of the pending issues for these models.
It is also expected that the new model will bring outstanding photographic equipment. Not in vain has that always been one of the great strengths of Google phones. Most likely, in addition to excellent quality lenses, more powerful software than normal will be added, improved thanks to the intervention of AI and the new functions that it can provide.
Finally, it should be noted that the Pixel 9 would already come with Android 15 installed, which would include support for operating system updates for the next 7 years.
Possible release date and price
The Pixel 9 is expected to arrive alongside the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro X, Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel Watch 3 for the fall of this year. Before that moment arrives, Google will keep us entertained with the presentation of the Pixel 8a, a rather peculiar model whose leaked specifications and prices we have already been able to see in this post.
With respect to the last question to be assessed, that of priceThere's not much to say at the moment. On the one hand, it is logical that there would not be a large increase compared to the previous model. We would be talking, then, about about 650 euros for the standard Pixel 9. However, this figure could be higher depending on the AI ​​capabilities that could be included in it. We will know for sure after the summer.
