There are many interesting new developments that the 2024 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona. One of them has been the launch of the series TCL 50, a versatile mobile with an incredible price, which we analyze in this article.
The presentation of this new series also accompanied that of other mobile devices, all of them equipped with the Nxtraper technology, specifically optimized for the human eye and 5G networks. They have also all been designed to improve the user's mobile experience through high-speed internet.
The new TCL 50 series
One of the hallmarks that have distinguished TCL in recent years is the production of cheap mobile phones, although equipped with quite complete technological equipment. This new line (the TCL 50 series) is made up of four models, each one designed for a different type of user: TCL 50 5G, TCL 50 SE, TCL 505 and TCL 501.
In the aesthetic section, there are no major differences between all these versions. The design is practically the same. A common feature is the shape of its screen, square and flat, with enhanced capabilities thanks to the Nxtvision technology, capable of working with refresh rates of 90 Hz. Another great contribution of this series is the Nxturbo technology, which optimizes synchronization between software and hardware, both on the GPU and the CPU.
The four models (whose launch in Spain is scheduled for April of this year) are a fantastic bet to meet the expectations of users looking for an affordable mobile phone but with guarantees. What really distinguishes them is their list of technical specifications, as we will see below.
TCL50 5G
The design of this model responds to the brand's classic guidelines, with a balanced 6,6 inch HD+ screen, resolution of 1.612 x 720 pixels, brightness of 480 nits and refresh rate of 90 Hz. The processor is a MediaTek Dimensity MT6835, guarantee of great performance in the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage configuration. The memory is expandable up to 2 TB via microSD.
It has a long-lasting 5.010 mAh battery and 18W charging (a somewhat unbalanced relationship). One of the most notable aspects is the 5G connectivity, in addition to its cameras, especially the 50 MP AI HYBRID.
Otherwise, the dimensions of the TCL 50 5G are 164 x 75 x 8,3 mm and its weight is 183,5 grams. It should also be noted that this mobile phone, the most versatile in the series, has received the classification of device Android Enterprise Recommended by Google. The sale price of this device is 149 euros.
TCL 50SE
Very similar to the TCL 50 5G in the aesthetic section, but with a very different proposal. The differences begin with the screen, which in this case is 6,78 inches, Full HD+ 2.460 x 1.080 pixel resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate and 550 nits typical brightness. That is, a better screen.
The TCL 50 SE is also larger (168,1 x 75,5 x 8,09 mm) and heavier (195 grams). The processor is a MediaTek Helio G88, which even allows the user to enjoy video games quite reliably. It is offered in two versions: one with 4 GB RAM + 126 GB storage and another with 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
The battery is similar to that of the previous model (5.010 mAh), although with a higher charging power of 33 W. The camera set also has similar characteristics. In addition, both this model and the TCL 50 5G incorporate the DTS surround sound technology (Digital Theater Systems). It will be sold from 169 euros.
TCL 505
A new model called to be one of the best low-cost smartphones of the year. He TCL 505 It stands out for its large screen and the size of its battery. Its screen is a 6,75-inch HD+, with 400 nits brightness and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
Works with a processor MediaTek Helio G36 and a configuration of 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (expandable via microSD card). Other details worth highlighting from its technical sheet are the 5.010 mAh battery, despite having a 10 W charge that falls quite short, and its interesting set of cameras: a 50 MP main one, a 2 MP depth sensor MP and a 5 MP front camera.
It is now certain that the TCL 505 will be available in two colors (Ocean blue y Space Grey), with dimensions of 168,29 x 76,67 x 8,32 mm and a weight of 190 grams. The sale price will be set from 109 euros. Really interesting.
TCL 501
Finally, we review some of the most notable features of another of the brand's economical models: the TCL 501. It is also the most basic of the series, with spartan equipment, but some features are worth highlighting.
Thus, in the TCL 501 we find a 6-inch screen and an eight-core MediaTek processor, which works together with 4 GB of RAM. The battery size is much smaller than the other models in the series, remaining at only 3.000 mAh. The final sale price of this mobile phone is not yet known, although there is a good chance that it will remain slightly below 100 euros. Ideal for more modest budgets.
